Please join us in congratulating Mason Intermediate Elementary School 6th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher, Whitney Decker, a 2020 Mason Schools Foundation Above and Beyond Teacher of the Year winner!

Mrs Decker is known to truly care about her students on Team Ingenuity and their families in every way possible! During remote learning she had weekly, if not daily, communication with her students and parents making sure everyone had up-to-date info. She also took special interest to learn about their lives outside of the classroom during this strange and unfamiliar time and even made surprise visits to each home with treats. This made her students feel extra special and loved.

Outside of the classroom, Mrs Decker was a go-to teacher for the Mason Levy. She attended almost every meeting, captained the teacher M+9 campaign, collected signatures, canvassed every day, called parents, and personally connected with every teacher and staff member who did not vote 1 week before the April 28th deadline.

These are characteristics that demonstrate compassion and leadership. When Mrs Decker sets her mind to something it is clear that her actions go above and beyond!
